Taplt Hybrid Brassica (patent pending) represents a major breakthrough in penetrating highly compacted soils. Developed to outperform traditional daikon radishes, Taplt targets a market exceeding five million acres annually, according to the USDA. While growers have long relied on daikon for soil compaction, its roots typically bend or lift when meeting a compaction layer, failing to deliver the intended results. Recognizing that daikon’s were ineffective, we set out to breed a better solution.
Introduced fall 2025, Taplt Hybrid Brassica’s powerful taproot drives through compaction layers that daikon’s can’t breach, with roots reaching 36 inches deep in as little as 28 days, among the fastest elongation rate of any crop.
By improving the soil structure, Taplt gives subsequent crops greater access to nutrients and water, enhancing resilience and yield potential. The core left behind by the decomposed root, biological aeration, allows for improved infiltration of water, fertilizer, and air, boosting microbial activity to benefit the following crop.
Taplt Hybrid Brassica’s upright leaf architecture (see photos) allows higher seeding rates without shading out other species in a mix, meaning more plants per acre, and greater compaction relief. With over 135,000 seeds per pound (nearly four times that of a daikon), Taplt delivers remarkable value while improving soil performance.
TapIt’s roots contain a high level of gluconasturtiin.
