Overview

WGF (Wild Game Food) grain sorghum, also known as milo, is a warm-season annual sorghum designed for wildlife food plots rather than commercial grain production. It reaches mid-bloom approximately 40–50 days after emergence and has a full life cycle of 90–120 days. The plants typically grow 26–30 inches tall, producing large, heavy seed heads that remain attractive to wildlife into fall and winter.

Wildlife Benefits

WGF sorghum is highly palatable to a variety of game species. Deer feed heavily on the grain in fall and winter, while birds such as quail, turkey, pheasants, doves, and ducks consume the seeds as they mature. The variety is bird-resistant, which helps prevent migrating blackbirds from stripping the crop in late summer. As the seed stands in the field, it loses tannic acid, becoming increasingly palatable through the fall.
