Originating in upstate New York, this oval cucumber grows to 9 inches long and has white ivory skin when the fruit is young. They have a mild flavor and are well suited for fresh, cooked and fermented preparations.

• Planting Information:
  When and where to plant: Select a sunny, well-drained location and sow seed in the late spring when the soil is warm, and all danger of frost is past. For earlier crop start indoors 4-6 weeks before setting out. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, fertilize with vegetable food and smooth with rake. Firm soil over seed and keep moist.
  Care: Keep soil moist and feed monthly. Tie vines on trellis to save space.
  Harvesting: Pick at any size up to 6-8 inches and before fruit color begins to turn yellow. Pick regularly so fruit will continue to form.
  Storage: Store seed in cool, dry place. Heat and moisture can severely reduce germination.
